Description:Presbyterian Historical Society Records Archivist David Staniunas interviews Robert E. Wilson, vice-moderator of the 217th Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) General Assembly in Birmingham, Alabama, 2006. Wilson was born on January 23, 1939 in Gastonia, N.C., and raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Barred from professional employment by segregation in North Carolina, Wilson found federal civil service work at the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, N.J., in 1961. He and Patricia Isles were married on June 17, 1961. The couple joined Ironia Presbyterian Church (Ironia, N.J.) in 1963. Wilson retired from the federal civil service in 1995. Title:Description:John Elder (1894-1983) and his wife Ruth Roche Elder (1899-1992) were appointed by the Board of Foreign Missions to the East Persia Mission in 1921. Throughout their 42 years of service, they were engaged in evangelistic missionary work, initially in Kermanshah (1923-1934), the Hamadan (1934-1937), and finally in Tehran (1938-1964). Description:Alan T. Forbes was a Baptist minister in Buffalo, N.Y., longtime director of the Buffalo Christian Center. He was born November 28, 1922, and married Letha Jane Woods on May 23, 1943. Forbes was ordained by an independent group of Western New York Baptist ministers in 1948 and became the first full-time director of the Youthtime Evangelism Fellowship at the Buffalo Christian Center. Forbes was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, participated in Billy Graham's crusades, hosted a radio program on WDCX "Good News at Noon," and helped organize a "baseball chapel" featuring members of the Toronto Blue Jays.
