Text transcribed from caption: P-32152 CHURCH AND SOCIETY CONFERENCE DISCUSSED ENUGU, Nigeria -- Plans for a World Conference on Church and Society, scheduled for July 1966, are discussed at Enugu, Nigeria, by churchmen attending a consultation on “Christian Response to the African Revolution” jointly sponsored by the World Council of Churches’ Division of Inter-Church Aid, Refugee and World Service and the All Africa Conference of Churches. The consultation preceded the WCC Central Committee meeting. From left to right are: Prof. Aluko of the economics department of the University of Nigeria; Dr. Paul Abrecht, executive secretary of the WCC’s Department on Church and Society; the Rev. Adeolu Adegbola, Methodist theologian and director of Immanuel Theological College at Ibadan, Nigeria; and Mr. Bola Ige, Ibadan lawyer who drafted a report on international affairs for the consultation. BLAKE ADDRESSES AFRICA CONSULTATION ENUGU, Nigeria -- Steps toward the solution of race problems are outlined at a consultation on “Christian Response to the African Revolution” by Dr. Eugene Carson Blake, chief administrative officer of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. and chairman of the National Council of Churches’ Commission on Religion and Race. Dr. Blake also is chairman of the World Council of Churches’ Committee on Inter-Church Aid, Refugee and World Service, which jointly sponsored the consultation with the All Africa Conference of Churches. The meeting preceded the WCC Central Committee meeting at Enugu, Nigeria. Seated, from left to right, are: the Rev. Jean Kotto, general secretary of the Evangelical Church in the Cameroun; Sir Francis Ibiam, governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria and one of the WCC’s six presidents, and Dr. Donal M’Timkulu, former general secretary of the All Africa Conference of Churches.
