ARRESTED

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Father James Groppi (center), the civil rights

activist priest from Milwaukee, and militant leader Rennie Davis are

taken into custody during an anti war demonstration a block from the

White House. About 300 demonstrators were arrested when they staged

a sitdown in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue at the height of the

evening rush hour. They wanted to march to the White House to present

President Nixon with an "eviction notice," but police barred their

way.
