Father Lynch assures all callers that he’s never known a quake to start in New York. Above, Father Lynch points to wavy lines on seismograph which indicate an actual quake in progress. Text transcribed from caption: C-3914 PRIEST MAKES PARISH CALLS IN JEEP NEW YORK -- Jeep-riding is no new experience for the Rev. Walter T. McNamara, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx, who makes all his parish calls in his newly-acquired vehicle. He was a U.S. Army chaplain in Europe, and was on the long trek from England trough France, Belgium and Germany. Father McNamara obtained his jeep through the War Assets Administration when, unable to secure an automobile, he exercised his priority as a veteran to buy one of its surplus Army cars.
