Text transcribed from caption: PC-32199 THE ASCENSION IN ABSTRACT ART BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- This abstract of the Ascension is one of a series of modern paintings by William Congdon, internationally known artists, on exhibit at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Brooklyn, N.Y., until March 26. The exhibit was arranged by Msgr. Raymond S. Leonard, chairman of the college’s Theology Department, with the cooperation of the Betty Parsons Gallery, New York. Mr. Congdon’s works hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum, all in New York, as well as in other museums in this country and Europe. The exhibition at St. Joseph’s marks the first time that his paintings have been shown on any college or university campus in the greater metropolitan area. Addressing the more than 1,500 religious leaders, government figures and political and social scientists is Nicolai N. Inozemstev, theoretical adviser to the Central Committee of the Communist Party in the USSR and deputy chief editor of Pravda. The Russian people, he said, support the general tone of Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), the last encyclical by the late Pope John XXIII and the convocation’s basic document. The meeting’s basic document was Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), the last encyclical of the late Pope John XXIII. It was chosen for its importance not only to Catholics but to all men. Dr. Fry and Dr. Donald R. Heiges (center), president of the seminary, addressed the nine dinners from New York via the phone hookup. At right is Dr. Gunnar Knudsen of Reading, Pa., chairman of the board for the seminary. The board voted early in February to relocate the seminary, now in the Mt. Text transcribed from caption: C-32141 CYO CITES BOB HOPE NEW YORK -- Bob Hope, noted TV comedian (right), receives the 1964 Club of Champions Medal presented by the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of New York for “dedication and service to the youth of America and particularly to the U.S. armed forces.” Presentation was made by Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York, at the CYO’s annual dinner. Shown with them is J. Peter Grace, CYO president. The citation to Mr. Hope noted that he has made annual Christmas tours of military bases overseas with an entertainment group. He was in South Vietnam at Christmas. The boys are Philip Petrosky and Robert Cambell. During the observance, the students were made aware of the scope of Negro contributions in all areas of American society. They also prepared an exhibit in the school library of posters, books, magazines and other materials pertaining to Negro history.
