Text transcribed from caption: SEABEE CHAPEL #3007 PHILIPPINE ISLANDS -- This Pacific island chapel, erected by Seabees from scrap material, was the inspiration of the Rev. C.B. Meininger, pastor of the First Christian Church of Moline, Ill. As a chaplain with the Seabees, he drew up the plan for the structure, which served as a chapel for 2,500 servicemen. John Leonard Wilson, conducts a mass confirmation for 120 former prisoners of the Japanese. The bishop himself has been imprisoned since Singapore’s fall in 1942. Service was conducted in the courtyard of the Changi Military P.O.W. camp, formerly Changi Jail. Most of the altar fittings and ornaments had been made by the prisoners.
