Text transcribed from caption: SEEKS GUARANTEES FOR CHRISTIANS IN LEBANON
#c-3685 PITTSBURGH -- Christians in Lebanon want a United National guarantee
of religious freedom, according to the Rt. Rev. Chor-Bishop Antoun Akl, a
high dignitary of the Maronite (Eastern Rite) Catholic Church shown here
(right) with the Rev. Elias Basil, pastor of St. Anne’s Syro-Maronite
Catholic church. According to Bishop Akl, the Christians in Lebanon, only
country in the Levant not dominated by Moslems, fear a pan-Arabic union. This
would leave Lebanon Christians isolated in a Moslem world, Bishop Akl says,
and they feel their religious liberties might be curtailed in such a
situation. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO
