Description:
Newspaper clipping announcing the opening of the first storefront church in
East Harlem. The church is part of a initiative by the newly formed
organization, the East Harlem Protestant Parish, to create churches that tend
to the needs of the people. The new concept was supported by four Protestant
denominations, the New York City Mission Society, and Union Theological
Seminary.
