Text transcribed from caption: C-46159 FEARS 'FALSE REPORTS' WILL REDUCE AID NEW YORK -- Bishop Jaime Brufau Macia, C.M., of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, expresses gave [sic. grave] concern that "false reports" on the disposition of relief supplies and "rumors" of extensive looting of emergency materials will prematurely cut off assistance to hurricane-ravaged Honduras. During a brief visit to New York made primarily to dispel what he described as "untruthful reports and rumors" about the handling of relief supplies, Bishop Brufau declared that it will take “from three to five years" to rebuild the Honduran economy and he is "worried" that when the short-term relief efforts stop "people will forget about the continuing plight of the people there." His diocese covers most of the area hit by Hurricane Fifi. At right is Bishop Laurence M. Graziano, O.F.M., former head of the San Miguel, El Salvador, diocese. The Mass honored the first person born in the U.S. to be declared blessed by the Catholic Church. Mother Seton, who founded the Sisters of Charity in 1809, was beatified by Pope John XXIII in 1963 and her canonization cause is now being studied. Hundreds of nuns from all over the country attended the Mass, which was concelebrated by some 70 priests and eight bishops. Text transcribed from caption: PC-46042 ‘REVELATIONS’ FROM THE REV. MOON NEW YORK -- Intensity shows on the face of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon as he makes his much publicized appearance at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Korean preacher, founder of the Unification Church, declared time and again during his two and one-half hour discourse that “the messiah” will come soon and establish the “physical kingdom of God on earth.” This new messiah will be the same one that Christians believe came in Jesus Christ, the evangelist asserted, making veiled references to “new revelations” concerning the messiah. Sun Myung Moon was preaching his philosophy of the “new Christianity” to an overflow crowd inside the arena. The pre-Jesus rallies, as well as a gospel rock music concert and sermonettes in the Glad Tidings Tabernacle near the Garden, were coordinated by a coalition called Christians United for Jesus as Lord, representing some 17 mostly evangelical churches and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. Text transcribed from caption: PC-46043 20,000 HEAR THE REV. MOON NEW YORK -- Gesturing enthusiastically, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon delivers a sermon on “The New Future of Christianity” to an overflow crowd of more than 20,000 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Korean preacher’s appearance at the famed arena followed a “media blitz” which saw poster pasted up all over the city, frequent TV commercials and hundreds of Mr. Moon’s followers on street corners handing out leaflets and free tickets to the rally. Although the Garden was standing-room-only at the start of the program, people began leaving by the hundreds after listening to 20 minutes of Mr. Moon’s fiery rhetoric. By the end of the sermon more than half of the audience had walked out. During his two and one-half hour discourse, Mr. Moon claimed to have “direct revelations from God” and declared that “the messiah” will come soon and establish the “physical kingdom of God on earth.” Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (CS-NY-9C-74-DS)

Text transcribed from caption: Suggested for use with RNS college series PC-45963 THE HIGH COST OF COLLEGE College students work on a project in a science lab. Even students attending tuition-free public colleges must plan to pay for the use of such labs and other facilities. A typical student at one of these institutions will spend about $150 a year for fees, plus about $100 for books. But this must be considered an academic bargain compared with other colleges. The cost of higher education this year will be nearly 36 per cent higher than it was four years ago. The average cost at a 4-year private school this Fall for students living on campus is expected to be just above $4,000; and at 4-year public institutions, about $2,400. This includes tuition, room and board, transportation, books and miscellaneous expenses. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (C-NY-8E-74-DS)

Mrs. Rabin is at far right.
