Text transcribed from caption: C-31835 EUCHARISTIC DANCE-DRAMA BOMBAY, India
-- Dressed in the traditional garb of a holy man in India, Father George
Proksch, S.V.D., is directing a 1,000-member dance team and 300-voice choir
for a Eucharistic dance-drama to be presented during the 38th International
Eucharistic Congress in Bombay (Nov. 28-Dec. 6.). At right is a rehearsal of
“The Devil Tempts Eve,” a part of the presentation which will portray the
deep significance of the Eucharist in Indian art-forms. Two performances are
scheduled: Nov. 30 and Dec. 5 at Bombay’s Brabourne Stadium. Use of words,
actions and dance are expected to convey the meaning of the Eucharist to many
non-Christians. Father Proksch, 60, has been a Divine Word missionary in
India for some 30 years, and has made numerous contributions to Hindu
literature and Indian music. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO
