Text transcribed from caption: P-30372 GLOBAL MISSION POLICIES EXAMINED BY WORLD COUNCIL MEXICO CITY -- A new look at an old task, “proclamation of the Gospel to the ends of the earth that all men may turn to Jesus Christ and be saved,” was the goal of a meeting of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism of the World Council of Churches in December at Mexico City. Purpose of the meeting was cited by Anglican Bishop John Sadiq of Nagpur, India, (bottom left) commission chairman, as he officiated at opening services. Two of some 200 Protestant and Orthodox leaders from 48 countries taking part (top photo) were Missionary Bishop Mar Thoma Athanasius of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, India, and Korula Jacob, general secretary of the National Christian Council of India. In a study section on “The Witness of Christians to Men in the Secular World,” a comment is made (bottom right) by the Rev. Robert Owen Lathan, home secretary of the London Missionary Society.
