Text transcribed from caption: P-31661 A BISHOP IS CONSECRATED DETROIT -- Dr.
C. Kilmer Myers (right) receives the shepherd’s staff from Protestant
Episcopal Bishop Richard S. Emrich as he is consecrated as Suffragan Bishop
of the diocese. The colorful ceremonies took place in the Cathedral Church of
Saint Paul in Detroit, with eight bishops and a distinguished list of clergy
participating. Dr. Myers, 49, who for 11 years was a vicar of two inner-city
missions in New York’s Lower East Side, will supervise urban church work in
Detroit. For the last year he has been director of the Urban Training Center
for Christian Mission at Chicago, an interdenominational Protestant agency.
