Text transcribed from caption: PC-29703 BIGOTS BURN CROSS IN CHICAGO CHICAGO -- A cross burns in a Chicago street amid racial tensions. Northern segregationists put a torch to the six-foot wooden cross as a sign of their opposition to the move-in of a Negro family at an apartment house. They were not apprehended.
