Text transcribed from caption: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RABBI #1824 Among the
post-war responsibilities of the synagogue is the reception - and care, if
necessary - of discharged Jewish veterans. Rabbi David de Sola Pool of
Shearith Israel Congregation in New York is shown greeting a soldier newly
back from service in the China-Burma-India theater. Some Jewish servicemen
have shown a desire to study for the rabbinate, and others have displayed
greater interest in religion, as a result of their experiences overseas.
Shearith Israel gave 163 young men to the army, navy and other services, as
indicated by its service flag. Three were killed in active service. (No. 7 of
