VATICAN CITY -- Pope Paul VI (back to camera) talks to a group of nuns on
their arrival in Rome after being forced out of Sudan by the predominantly
Muslim country. Earlier the Pope granted a special audience to missionary
priests from the Sudan who also were expelled. About 200 Catholic
missionaries, most of them Italian, have arrived in Rome from southern Sudan.
The regime claimed they had been involved in anti-state activities and
created disturbances, charges vehemently denied by the missionaries. Credit
