The inter-denominational assembly drew thousands more who, unable to enter the stadium, went to nearby churches where loud-speaking equipment had been installed. In background above is shown the massed choir of 1,200 representing 200 Toronto and district churches. Orchestra is the Toronto Symphony. David Munroe Cory, pastor of Cuyler Presbyterian church, points to the first of the Ten Commandments as it is translated into Iroquois. Dr. Cory learned the difficult language after a large group of Mohawk Indians settled in Brooklyn and became his parishioners. Many Iroquois words contain 18 letters, some have 30. Dr. Sylvester C. Michelfelder, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly acting director of the Division, has become chairman of a staff committee directing material aid work. Northam, an accountant by profession, was with the British Ministry of Food during the war, later becoming supply assistant to UNRRA in London.
