Text transcribed from caption: DRESDEN CATHEDRAL BACKGROUND TO RUIN #c-3046 DRESDEN, Germany -- Dresden’s famous Hof Kirche, the Court Church of the Saxon kings (left background), was badly damaged during the war, but rebuilding work is going on now. The Hof Kirche was built from 1739-56. Its parapets were adorned by the statues of 59 saints, some of which are still standing (left and center). The tower rising in the background is 272 feet high. Text transcribed from caption: #810 BERLIN COUNSELLOR FOR ROMAN CATHOLIC INTEREST Father Peter Buchholz is the Counsellor [sic. Councillor] for Roman Catholic interests and chairman of the Office for Church Affairs of the Berlin city government. For twenty years he was chaplain at the Plotzensee Prison near Berlin. During the Nazi regime he ministered to over 1000 political prisoners who were sentenced to die by hanging. These included Catholics executed for the famous July 20 attempt on Hitler’s life. KARL BARTH VISITS GERMANY FRANKFURT-ON-MAIN -- Dr. Karl Barth, famous Swiss theologian (with glasses) greets the family of Pastor Frick, aide of Pastor Martin Niemoeller in Frankfurt. Dr. Barth was returning from the conference of German Evangelical leaders at Treysa, It was his first visit to Germany since he was expelled from the University of Bonn in 1935 by order of Adolf Hitler.
