Text transcribed from caption: PCJ-46559 TERRORIST GRENADE INJURES U.S. GIRL JERUSALEM -- Dejean Replogle, 16, of Jacksonville, Fla., is comforted by a doctor in the Jerusalem hospital after she was injured when a terrorist grenade struck the bus in which she was riding. Miss Replogle and 17 fellow parishioners of the Main Street Baptist Church of Jacksonville were travelling from Jerusalem to Jericho when the grenade hit the bus at the ruins of Bethany. Shrapnel struck Miss Replogle in the leg and she was rushed to Jerusalem where she underwent surgery. In Beirut, the Palestine Liberation Organization took responsibility for the attack and warned foreigners “not to go to occupied Palestine as we are not responsible if they get hurt during the escalation of commando activity against the Israeli enemy.” Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (B-Jer-12D-74-DS)

Text transcribed from caption: PCJ-46270 VENGEANCE AND GRIEF BEIT SHEAN, Israel -- Angry residents of Biet Shean, Israel, throw a body out a window of an apartment house (left photo) to a crowd below where it was burned. The incident followed an attack by three Arab guerrillas on the village near the Jordan border. The Arabs had attacked an apartment block and killed four Israelis before being shot themselves in a gunfight with Israeli soldiers. As soon as the shooting stopped, residents rushed to the apartment where the Arabs lay dead. Several men hurled the bodies out the window and they were burned in a bonfire. In their fury, the men mistakenly pushed out the body of an Israeli who was apparently killed by the guerrillas and it was also burned. At right, a couple grieves during funeral ceremonies for the four dead villagers. Nineteen others were injured in the pre-dawn attack. The man was killed and his wife was injured when two Palestinian guerrillas entered his home. The victim was a Circassian, a descendent of Moslems who came to Palestine from the Caucasus in the 19th Century after the Russians had conquered their region from the Turks. Mr. Peres assured the victim’s neighbors that Israel knew the site in Lebanon where the two guerrillas had received their training and that Israeli forces would strike at the base. Text transcribed from caption: PCJ-46072 A PEACEFUL YOM KIPPUR IN ISRAEL JERUSALEM -- With weapons resting on their laps and prayer shawls around their shoulders, Israeli soldiers read religious texts near Jerusalem's Wailing Wall as the Jewish holyday of Yom Kippur started. On the feast -- the first anniversary on the Hebrew calendar of the 1973 Arab-Israeli war -- police and the armed forces were alerted throughout Israel to the possibilities of breaches of the ceasefire on the front lines or terrorist attacks. The day, however, passed quietly in contrast with the warfare of a year ago. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (B-JER-9D-74-DS)

A spokesman for the "settlers" said the effort was launched "by design" to precede the arrival in Israel of U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
