Kasai, Republic of the Congo - 10 August 1960. Some 11,500 soldiers from nine
countries are now on duty with the U.N. Force in the Republic of the Congo,
helping to restore order ad calm in the country. Assistance also includes
technical and medical personnel, air transport, food, heavy materials and
various supplies. For example, a food distribution was organized for the
victims of the intertribal fight between the Luluas and Balubas in Kasai
province. The food was sent by U.N. cargo aircraft from Leopoldville to
Luluebourg, provincial capital of Kasai. Here, the food packages have been
unloaded from the U.N. plane by Tunisian troops of the U.N. Force.
