Description:
Faculty and students of the Inter American University in San Germán began
construction of the new student center shoveling cement to the Calypso Beat
of the University Steel Band composed of students from the Virgin Islands.
The new student center will be built entirely by student and faculty donated
labor. A new idea in donations, this project was conceived by students to
meet the needs of the rapidly expanding university. The Pan American Students
Club joined in the foundation laying ceremony by presenting a cash donation
to be used for material. The proceeds from a Valentine's Day dance were the
source of the donation. President Ronald C. Bauer officially began the
project by placing the first shovel of concrete into the foundation.
