Text transcribed from caption: P-31249 LIBERIA RADIO PERSONALITY STUDIES IN U.S. CHICAGO -- Mrs. Clara Blaine-Wilson is a Liberian better know to youthful radio listeners in her own country as “Aunt Clara.” In the U.S. this summer to attend a radio workshop at the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, and to speak at Bible conferences and church services across the country, Mrs. Blaine-Wilson gave up an information officer post in Liberia’s Bureau of Information to become a full-time, self-supporting missionary on the staff of the Sudan Interior Mission’s radio station ELWA in Liberia. In addition to her regular “Kiddies Korner” program, she takes part in other radio and television programs and writes a column for SIM publications. Text transcribed from caption: P-31149 COMMUNICATIONS LEADER, EDITOR HONORED CHICAGO -- Mass communication’s increasing importance in the life of American churches was recognized during commencement exercises at Chicago Theological Seminary as the institution honored two churchmen prominent in the field. Dr. Everett C. Parker (second from left), director of the Office of Communication of the United Church of Christ and a leading participant in National Council of Churches broadcasting and film activities, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree, and Dr. Kyle Haselden (right), American Baptist clergyman who edits the ecumenical weekly, The Christian Century, received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree. At left is Dean Robert S. Moore, seminary marshall [marshal], adjusting Dr. Parker’s academic hood as Dr. Howard Schomer, seminary president, hands the churchman a diploma.
