- Title
- Advisory Council on Church and Society statement on Israel and Palestine, 1974.
- Description
- The 183rd United Presbyterian Church General Assembly (1971) recommended that the Council on Church and Society prepare background material and recommendations on the Middle East question for consideration at the 184th General Assembly (1972). The Council subsequently created a Middle East Task Force to undertake the study and provide the Council a report that was to include a quality background paper that reviews the history of the conflict, clearly delineates the positions of the parties, highlights realistic possibilities for a durable settlement, and provides a Christian theological frame of reference. Includes correspondence from Dean H. Lewis, Director of the Advisory Council on Church and Society to Ben Weir about the report.
