The top of the altar table is a 15-foot marble slab. The pulpit is circular, cut from solid blocks of marble. Official dedication of the chapel, which includes a Catholic and a Jewish section on the lower level, was held outdoors and attended by some 10,000 persons, among whom were religious, military, government and civic leaders.
