- Text transcribed from caption: PC-30268 PRAYER AND THE PRESIDENT WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Figures in a dramatic, tragic story in American history at a prayer breakfast of congressional wives and the inauguration of the first Roman Catholic President of the U.S. Below, the late President Kennedy addresses the prayer gathering; with him are his successor, then Vice President, Lyndon Baines Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, and Evangelist Billy Graham. Above, the late President takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, 1961. Administering the oath is Chief Justice Earl Warren. - Text transcribed from caption: P-30571 PRESIDENT, EVANGELIST AT PRAYER BREAKFAST WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Johnson and evangelist Billy Graham bow their heads at Washington's 12th annual Presidential prayer breakfast sponsored by the International Christian Leadership. Addressing the breakfast, the President called for establishment of a "living memorial" in Washington "to the God Who made us all." He said the memorial, built by voluntary contributions, would serve as a "center of prayer for all men of all faiths at all times." The President suggested that the ICL take the lead in securing support for the project. They were among some 1,400 national leaders -- including many clergymen -- who participated in the annual Presidential Prayer Breakfast.
