- Text transcribed from caption: POPE GIVES BLESSING TO NOBLE GUARD #1484 ROME -- Pope Pius XII is shown here bestowing his annual blessing on members of the Noble Guard at a recent reception in the Vatican. At the right two guardsmen kneel while others stand at attention, holding the colors of the Guard. The Noble Guard consists of 77 members, all of whom belong to the Italian nobility and must meet rigid requirements as to health and character.
