- Text transcribed from caption: C-31087 POPE LEADS CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION ROME -- Holding a golden monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament, Pope Paul VI walked in an hour-long Corpus Christi procession in which high-ranking Vatican ecclesiastic and nearly all students of Rome’s seminaries also marched. He was the first Pope in a century to participate in a public procession in Rome on the solemn feast of Corpus Christi. Starting at the ancient church of St. George in Velabro, the procession ended at the open oval of the Circus Maximus, where the Pope officiated at the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and spoke briefly to the crowd. - Text transcribed from caption: C-31969 A CHRISTMAS GREETING FROM THE POPE ROME -- Pope Paul VI embraces a small boy as he visits a Rome suburb to extend his Christmas greeting to hundreds of faithful and to officiate at a Mass in the Church of St. Raphael the Archangel. The Pope rode through the district of Trullo in an open car, ignoring a steady rain. On his return to the Vatican, he celebrated another Mass on Christmas Day in St. Peter’s Basilica. - Text transcribed from caption: C-29760 POPE APPEALS TO EASTERN CHURCHES GROTTAFERRATA, Italy -- Pope Paul VI is shown at a Basilian Abbey outside Rome where he made a momentous appeal to the Eastern Orthodox Churches to unite with Rome. The pontiff celebrated Mass for the abbey’s Eastern Rite monks and gave an impromptu talk in which he said the barriers separating the Eastern Churches from the Holy See should “fall without delay.” At right, Pope Paul greets monks as he prepared to leave the abbey.
