LUCE JOINS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH #1776 NEW YORK -- Mrs. Clare Boothe Luce, Connecticut Congresswoman and noted playwright, has become a Roman Catholic after taking five months of instruction from Msgr. Fulton J. Sheen. Formerly a Protestant Episcopalian, Mrs. Luce was received into the Church at St. Patrick’s Cathedral here. She is the wife of Henry R. Luce, editor of Time, Life and Fortune magazines and prominent Presbyterian layman. Mrs. Luce is the latest of a number of prominent converts to the Church. Senator Robert F. Wagner of New York, joined the Church in January. Another recent convert was Louis F. Budenz, former managing editor of The Daily Worker, Communist newspaper.
