- Belle Hawkes biographical data as provided by some of her loved ones. Includes: a letter written by Robert Speer addressed to Belle Hawkes' sister, Margaret; "Belle Sherwood Hawkes - Thirty-Six Years in Persia," a 1931 essay written her husband, James W. Hawkes for the Elmira College Alumnae News; an excerpt from a 1969 letter from LeRoy Bailey, the nephew of Belle, to Jane and Francis Harper.
