- Text transcribed from caption: PADRES OF CANADA’S NEWEST KLONDIKE #1514 YELLOWKNIFE, NWT, CANADA -- Posed outside his small wooden church is bearded Father A. M. Gatty, O.M.I., who came from Belgium in 1939 to become spiritual adviser to this tiny outpost where the cry of “gold” is attracting thousands of prospectors and adventurers to Canada’s newest boomtown. Father Gatty speaks several Indian dialects, and his ministry is carried on in a mushroom city of tents, restaurants, rooming houses, and hotels whose normal population of 500 has increased to over 3,000. Collins of Toronto, minister of the Fairfield United church, Hamilton, has been appointed assistant minister of the Colborne Street United church, London, Ont., which has a large congregation. She is one of the few women ministers of the United Church of Canada to be named to town or city churches.
