- Group photograph, 40th Anniversary Missionary Conference, New Wilmington, PA, Aug. 3 to 11, 1945. The New Wilmington Mission Conference is a yearly meeting for youth aged 12 to 25 with an objective of deepening the missionary spirit and promoting service and witness for Jesus Christ. NWMC grew out of the ecumenical Young People's Missionary Movement. The first conference was held in the summer of 1905 at Allegheny Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh. From 1906 until the present, the Conference has been held on the campus of Westminster College.

Ford, New York, presents sitations [sic] to next of kin of four Protestant, Jewish and Catholic Navy chaplains who died together in the sinking of the transport Dorchester in 1943 after giving their lifebelts to others aboard the ship. The citations were given by the Committee of Catholics for Human Rights at a dinner in the Hotel Roosevelt, New York. The four recipients, shown left to right, were Mrs. Clarke V. Ernest Johnson, executive secretary of the Department of Research and Education of the Federal Council of Churches (left) receives the 1945 Clendenin Award in place of the Rev. James Myers, award winter who, because of illness, was unable to be present at the luncheon in his honor at the Hotel New Yorker. Presenting the award, given annually by the Workers Defense League for distinguished service in behalf of labor’s rights, is Nathan M. Minkoff, secretary-treasurer of the N. Y.
