To serve members of the congregation who have moved to other districts, this trailer chapel of the Second Church of Christ, Brooklyn, N.Y. was built and equipped by the Rev. and Mrs. Elmer C. Kile and their parents. Mr. Kile is shown addressing members of the church outside the “mother church” building. - Text transcribed from caption: RELIGION ON THE MOVE #3167 Shifting populations throughout the United States and Canada during the war years have made churchmen transportation conscious, and as a result they have turned to many different conveyances to bring God’s word to their flocks. This sea-going parson is the Rev. A. H. Marshall, of St. Phillips Protestant Episcopal church, Southport, N.C. He is preaching from the deck of his boat to one of the 105 congregations scattered over hundreds of miles of inland waterway between the Virginia and South Carolina state lines. In bad weather the “congregation” adjourns to a nearby building, or, if the group is small enough, the cabin of the boat serves as a meeting place. - Text transcribed from caption: RELIGION ON THE MOVE #3169 Shifting populations throughout the United States and Canada during the war years have made churchmen transportation conscious, and as a result they have turned to many different conveyances to bring God’s word to their flocks. The Rev. Gilbert Thompson, of Moose Factory, Ont., uses dogs and snowshoes to reach his congregation. He ministers to both whites and Cree Indians, the latter in their own tongue. They in turn translate his message into Eskimo for any of that race present. Mr. Thompson prefers travel by boat in the summer to dogs or snowshoes in winter.
