- Text transcribed from caption: #S-4617 PROTESTANT YOUTH WORK FOR INTERRACIAL AMITY NEW YORK -- The Christian Youth Council, sponsored by the Protestant Council of the City of New York, is carrying on a program to unite local church youth work throughout the city with special emphasis on interracial cooperation. - Text transcribed from caption: P-46205 FAMILY OF MAN AWARDS NEW YORK -- Gold and Bronze Medallions are presented during the annual dinner of the Society of the Family of Man, sponsored by the Council of Churches of the City of New York. From left to right are: John deButts, board chairman of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company who received the Bronze Medallion in the business and industry category; Lewis W. Foy, chairman of the Society; Dr. William R. Tobert, Jr., president of Liberia and a past-president of the Baptist World Alliance, recipient of the Gold Medallion; and Dr. Dan M. Potter, executive director of the Council of Churches. In his acceptance address, Dr. Tolbert, who is pastor of Zion Praise Baptist Church in Bentol as well as head of state of his country, issued a “rallying call” for “human endearment and total involvement for human upliftment and fulfilment” to solve the problems of humanity. Also honored with the Bronze Medallion in the sports category but not present at the dinner was Hank Aaron, who this year set a new career home run record in baseball.
