- Methodist protest at GOP headquarters.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: PC-31753 METHODISTS PROTEST AT GOP HEADQUARTERS KANSAS CITY -- Banners carried by some 80 Methodist clergymen and ministerial students protest the sale at Republican campaign headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., of a book they contend is a “smear” attack on their denomination and other Churches. The book, “None Dare Call it Treason,” by John Stormer, a Missouri Republican, alleges widespread Communist infiltration in many facets of American life. A National Council of Churches publication and religious leaders elsewhere have charged that the book is poorly documented and uses much material out of original context.
