- Text transcribed from caption: CO-30664 ORTHODOX HONOR FOR CARDINAL SPELLMAN NEW YORK -- Francis Cardinal Spellman, second from left, Roman Catholic Archbishop of New York, is shown as he received a high honor from a Greek Orthodox order. He was given the Grand Cross of the Sovereign Greek Order of St. Dennis of Zante. Presenting the award was Dr. Pericles Voultsos, grand master, third from left. Looking on are Major Mario G. Remo, left, and the Rev. Hieromonk Bartholomew, chaplain of the order. The citation cited the "fraternal goodwill and Christian love" of Cardinal Spellman towards Orthodox Christians. - Text transcribed from caption: PC-30732 DIALOGUE AND A GIFT PHILADELPHIA -- Roman Catholic and Methodist leaders of Philadelphia in an ecumenical dialogue. Here Archbishop John J. Krol, left, presents to Methodist Bishop Fred Pierce Corson a memento of the Second Vatican Council. The gift, a medal presented to the Catholic prelate by Pope Paul VI, was made as the two churchmen completed a half-hour discussion on a Philadelphia TV station. It was their second televised dialogue within a year. Archbishop Krol is an undersecretary of the Council, while Bishop Corson, president of the World Methodist Council, attended the first and second sessions as a delegate-observer. - Text transcribed from caption: PC-30628 ECUMENICAL SPIRIT HAILED AT BROTHERHOOD EVENT NEW YORK -- An interreligious audience of some 1,200 at a Brotherhood Week luncheon in New York heard Richard Cardinal Cushing, Archbishop of Boston (second from left), cite recent gains in the ecumenical movement and call for increased contacts and conversations among men of various faiths. Other participants included (from left to right) included: Rabbi Israel Mowshowitz, former president of the New York Board of Rabbis, who gave a brief address in response to the cardinal; Archbishop Iakovos, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America, who delivered the invocation; Dr. Lewis Webster Jones, president of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, which annually sponsors Brotherhood Week, and the Rev. Edler G. Hawkins, pastor of St. Augustine United Presbyterian Church in New York, who gave the benediction. The luncheon was sponsored by the Manhattan region of the NCCJ. Official newsmagazine for Methodists in Michigan and now in its 90th year, the Advocate is one of many influential Protestant publications whose news columns are ecumenical in the sense that all phases of Christian work, Protestant and Catholic, are covered. In this picture, the Pope and Dr. King are flanked by Msgr. Paul C. Marcinkus of Chicago and the Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy of Atlanta, Ga.
