- Religion plays vital part in China’s struggle.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: 3734A RELIGION PLAYS VITAL PART IN CHINA’S STRUGGLE [3] China, longer at war than any of the Allied nations, is making the steady trek back from the dismal years of struggle. The Christian Church, always faced with gigantic tasks in the ancient land, is again showing the way. Here a Christian pastor is demonstrating to some of his farmer parishioners how to graft their fruit trees and thus increase their yield. - Pay day at China mission.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: PAY DAY AT A CHINA MISSION #S-4947 HANGCHOW, China -- Chinese women who labor at the Northern Presbyterian Mission here teaching, cooking, cleaning and sewing made-over clothes for children, assemble for their wages. Because of the inflationary spiral in China they are not paid in currency but with rice which they live on and use as barter for other goods. Markings on the bags indicate that the rice is part of American relief shipments to the Orient. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (PA-NY-BS-1A-47-W)
