- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: PC-30718 CARDINAL ADDRESSES PROTESTANT GROUP WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Richard Cardinal Cushing, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston (second from left, top photo) is shown as he participated in a Lenten program sponsored by the Protestant Episcopal, Methodist and Congregational churches of Wellsley [sic. Wellesley], Mass. Six hundred persons heard the cardinal, speaking from the pulpit of the Wellesley Congregational church, call for a "unity of love" in the community. "Our task," he said, "is to know, respect and esteem the conscientious religious beliefs of all people...to love one another, to work with all people for the common good of our country and the world." Left to right in top photo are the Rev. Henry Rust, pastor of the host church; Cardinal Cushing; the Rev. Samuel S. Johnston of St. Andrew's Episcopal church; the Rev. Guy Morrison of the Wellesley Methodist church; and Rabbi Jacob Lantz of Temple Beth Elohim.
