Kidd, Bishop of London, as Roman Catholics attending the London diocesan Eucharistic Congress bow their heads. Day-long services, publica expression of the faith of Catholics in their Church and belief in God, were held in colorful St. Anne’s Church in the bi-lingual town of Tecumseh, Canada, near the American border and the Detroit River. They presented the cardinal with a basket of flowers and with a check for $2,000 for Chinese missions from Dennis Cardinal Dougherty, Archbishop of Philadelphia (seated at right). The children are Bernardine Eng, and Anthony Chunn, both 7 years old. Shown in center is Judge Vincent Carroll, one of several prominent Philadelphians who attended. Kiley of Milwaukee, wearing the traditional mitre, leaves the altar at the conclusion of a Holy Hour night service at Marquette University stadium here where prayers were offered for the nation’s war dead. Highlight of the ceremonies was the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at which the archbishop officiated.
