Swan at right, whose last pastorate before entering the Army was the Lutheran Church at Missouri Valley, Ohio [sic. Iowa], shakes hands with some of the members of the congregation after services in the Pacific hut that serves as a chapel here. From left to right: Pfc. Anita McLemore of Inglewood, Calif.; Sgt. Paul Liebezeit of Chicago, Ill.; Pfc. Nancy Andrews of Goldsboro, N.C. Chaplain Swan hails from Kansas City, Mo. The chapel windows were ordered by the congregation of a little church at Lake Bennett in 1899, but the town was abandoned in 1900 when the White Pass & Yukon Railroad was opened making it unnecessary to use Lake Bennett as a waterway to Dawson City. More than forty years later, the windows were found in a Whitehorse barn, and put to use in this chapel when the airbase was opened. Credit Line Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO
