- Text transcribed from caption: P-32233 PRESBYTERIAN MODERATORS AT SERVICE NEW YORK -- A vesper service in New York’s Fifth Avenue Presbyterian church was hailed as an important milestone in the effort toward greater Presbyterian unity since it was led by moderators of the major northern and southern branches of the denomination. Greeting worshippers after the colorful event are Dr. Edler Hawkins (right) of New York, the first Negro to become spiritual leader of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., and Dr. Felix Gear of Decatur, Ga., moderator of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. (Southern). - Text transcribed from caption: TEN COMMANDMENTS IN IROQUOIS #S-3447 BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Rev. David Munroe Cory, pastor of Cuyler Presbyterian church, points to the first of the Ten Commandments as it is translated into Iroquois. Dr. Cory learned the difficult language after a large group of Mohawk Indians settled in Brooklyn and became his parishioners. Many Iroquois words contain 18 letters, some have 30.
