- Columbia, Mo. -- These Columbia high school students are typical of the thousands of teen-agers and elementary school youngsters who took part in trick or treat fun for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on Halloween night. Largely church-sponsored, the project is an annual affair conducted to help the hungry and sick children abroad with hospital care and food. The movement started in 1950 by the Rev. - Inter American University, San Germán, Puerto Rico.
- Description
- Faculty and students of the Inter American University in San Germán began construction of the new student center shoveling cement to the Calypso Beat of the University Steel Band composed of students from the Virgin Islands. The new student center will be built entirely by student and faculty donated labor. A new idea in donations, this project was conceived by students to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding university. The Pan American Students Club joined in the foundation laying ceremony by presenting a cash donation to be used for material. The proceeds from a Valentine's Day dance were the source of the donation. President Ronald C. Bauer officially began the project by placing the first shovel of concrete into the foundation.

- Harbison graduates.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: Nearly all of this group graduated from Senior Colleges and entered some profession. The young man (center) took the Bachelor's Degree from Senior College and since then has won a degree from a graduate School of Theology. He is now an ordained minister. The Harbison program is unique: every pupil is urged to work at his best possible rate. His progress is determined by his own rate of progress; every pupil is expected to excell in some one or more of his efforts. No particular student is required to complete any course in any pre-conceived period of time. [From Sit Lux: Pictorial Bulletin, Harbison Junior College].
