He spoke at a rally held in conjunction with a meeting of the Board of Managers of the United Church Women, a general department of the National Council of Churches. Lucey of San Antonio, Texas, receives the medal of Commander of the National Order of the Cedar from Ibrahim El-Ahab, Lebanese ambassador to the U.S. The archbishop was honored for his efforts on behalf of Lebanese people in his archdiocese and for his hospitality to Maronite Rite Patriarch Paul Meouchi of Antioch and All the East when the Lebanese prelate visited San Antonio in 1962. The Patriarch resides in Beirut. Archbishop Lucey praised the people of Lebanon for their long history in promoting freedom and goodwill in the Middle East.
