Father Gatty speaks several Indian dialects, and his ministry is carried on in a mushroom city of tents, restaurants, rooming houses, and hotels whose normal population of 500 has increased to over 3,000. Anderson, senior secretary of the international committee of the YMCA, is shown at the recent meeting here of the Department of Reconstruction and Inter-Church Aid of the World Council of Churches. Mr. Anderson, who has his headquarters in Paris, served for 17 years with the Y in France before the war. An Episcopalian, he represented the organization on the Allied Repatriation Commission for Prisoners of War after spending 13 months in Paris when the Germans occupied the city. Richard Stanley Merrill Emrich, assistant professor of Christian social ethics at the Episcopal Theological School here and minister-in-charge of St. Gabriel’s church, Marion, Mass., reads the letter notifying him of his election as suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Michigan. The son of Episcopal missionaries, Mr. Emrich was born in Mardin, Turkey. He studied at Brown University, the Theological School here, Union Seminary, New York, and the University of Marburg, Germany. He formerly was curate of St. John’s church, Waterbury, Conn.
