- Text transcribed from caption: PC-32168 MANY COUNTRIES REPRESENTED AT PACEM IN TERRIS CONVOCATION NEW YORK -- More than 1,500 religious leaders, noted government figures and political and social scientists from 15 countries, including Russia, took part in the international Pacem in Terris Convocation, held in New York to examine the requirements of peace. The meeting’s basic document was Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), the last encyclical of the late Pope John XXIII. It was chosen for its importance not only to Catholics but to all men. The convocation was arranged by the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions, Santa Barbara, Cal., in association with the Johnson Foundation of Racine, Wis.
