It will be “home” for some 3,000 participants in the Poor People’s Campaign during their stay in the national capital. The site for the camp being set up by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is situated alongside the Reflecting Pool between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The head of the Southern Leadership Conference, with some 300 others, was arrested for attempting to demonstrate on the Capitol grounds.
