- Executive Committee of the Institute for the Training of Colored Ministers record book, 1877-1891.
- Description
- The Institute for the Training of Colored Ministers (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was organized by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. as in 1877 with an objective "to educate colored candidates for the ministry, with a view to the organization and building up of an African Presbyterian Church." Its name was changed to the Tuscaloosa Institute in 1891, and to the Stillman Institute in 1893. In 1951, it became a four year college and changed its name to Stillman College. Record book includes minutes, annual reports, and constitution.
