- Bishop of Polish Mariaviten Church.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: BISHOP OF POLISH MARIAVITEN CHURCH #4662 WARSAW -- Bishop Sygmunt Szypold, of the Mariaviten Church of Poland, has been appointed Second assistant to the new head of a united church recently formulated here by union of the Mariavitens with the Old Catholic Church of Poland. The Mariaviten Church was established by dissident Roman Catholic priests and nuns on the basis of visions of the Virgin Mary reportedly seen by a nun. The churches will pool their resources under a common church government, but each will maintain its own internal organization and doctrinal teaching.
