- Title
- Pleads for church aid to China.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: #4794 PLEADS FOR CHURCH AID TO CHINA GALVESTON, Tex. -- “People in my diocese are actually eating grass, wild flowers and the bark from trees,” the Rt. Rev. Quentin K.Y. Huang (above), Protestant Episcopal Bishop of Kunming, China, told parishioners of the Grace Episcopal Church here. He is presently touring the United States seeking church assistance for famine-stricken areas in his country that are suffering from the ravages of eight war years. During the war, in which he directed an ambulance corps while surviving 265 bombings, the Bishop befriended many American soldiers. They came to know him as the “Bishop of Burma Road.” Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (NM-GAL-BS-11B6-A-E)
