Dr. Robert A. Thomas, left, minister of University Christian church, confers with Father Michael J. Taylor, S.J., who will lead a class of adults on 12 consecutive Sundays. Father Taylor, a Seattle University professor, is the author of "The Protestant Liturgical Renewal (A Catholic Viewpoint)," which has been well received throughout the country. - Text transcribed from caption: 3972 NISEI HEROES HONORED IN UNIQUE SERVICE TACOMA, Wash. -- Taps are sounded by Kenny Yaguchi at the end of a memorial service held in a Buddhist church here at which the war dead of the Tacoma Japanese Buddhist and Methodist Churches were jointly honored by the congregations of the two churches. Apel, Chester S. Ramsey and Arthur B. Langlie of Washington State United Church Overseas Relief. The shipment is equal to 195,480 quarts of reconstituted milk. - Text transcribed from caption: S-3980 THE GOSPEL BY BOTTLE TACOMA, Wash. -- Empty whiskey bottles are utilized by George Phillips to spread the Gospel. Phillips, who calls himself the “Whiskey Bottle Evangelist,” has for five years been inserting religious tracts in the bottles, then has thrown them to sea. Here he is shown operating the machine he invented to roll the thousands of tracts in colored cellophane.
