Cathedral clergy attend him. In Egypt to request aid from President Nasser of the United Arab Republic in the conflict with Turkey, Archbishop Makarios was greeted enthusiastically by the local Cypriot and Greek communities. - Slain Protestant missionary and his family.

- Text transcribed from caption: PC-31860 SLAIN PROTESTANT MISSIONARY AND HIS FAMILY LEOPOLDVILLE -- The Rev. Joseph W. Tucker of Portland, Ore., an Assemblies of God missionary, was reported to have been the first white hostage executed by fleeing Congo rebels at Paulis prior to its capture by Belgian paratroops. Mr. Tucker, a Congo missionary since 1939, is shown here with his wife and their three children who were rescued and evacuated to Leopoldville. The Tucker children are Johnny, an 18-year-old adopted son, Carol Lynne, 13, and Melvin Paul, 11. According to a witness in Paulis, Mr. Tucker was bound hand and foot and slowly beaten to death with bottles and heavy sticks. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (FRE-11D-64-NAB)

- Text transcribed from caption: P-31039 TANGANYIKA CHURCHMAN CONSECRATED AS BISHOP MOSHI, Tanganyika -- The Rev. Stephano R. Moshi was consecrated as bishop of the Northern Diocese of the newly-constituted Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanganyika, formed last year through the merger of seven Churches. Bishop Hanns Lilje of the Lutheran Church of Hanover, Germany, a past president of the Lutheran World Federation, presided at the colorful services at Moshi, Tanganyika. Bishop Moshi, 58, is presiding officer of the new 400,000-member Church and his diocese has some 160,000 members. Visser ‘t Hooft, general secretary of the international Protestant-Anglican-Orthodox organization since it was formed in 1948. Leading world churchmen at the speaker’s table (from left to right) are: Dr. Martin Niemoeller, noted German clergyman and retiring president of the Evangelical Church of Hesse-Nassau; Sir Francis Ibiam, governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria; Dr. Franklin Clark Fry, president of the Lutheran Church in America and chairman of the WCC Central and Executive Committees; Dr. Arthur Michael Ramsey, Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury; Archbishop Iakovos, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America; Charles C.
