- Title
- Ten Commandments in Iroquois.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: TEN COMMANDMENTS IN IROQUOIS #S-3447 BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Rev. David Munroe Cory, pastor of Cuyler Presbyterian church, points to the first of the Ten Commandments as it is translated into Iroquois. Dr. Cory learned the difficult language after a large group of Mohawk Indians settled in Brooklyn and became his parishioners. Many Iroquois words contain 18 letters, some have 30. Blackboard technique is used by the pastor to teach Indian youngsters the tenets of their faith. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (BH-NY-JOG-7C-6-W)
